Latham & Watkins

The firm

In February 2007 Latham & Watkins was awarded the title of "Law Firm of the Decade" by Legal Business.  The judges praised the firm as "unique in being able to conquer both New York and London despite hailing from neither".  Latham & Watkins has more that 1,900 lawyers in 24 offices across Europe, America and Asia, giving it the capability to provide its clients with seamless representation at a global level.

The London office, with over 160 lawyers, advises on some of the most significant and groundbreaking cross-border transactions in Europe. It has leading practices in banking and leveraged finance, project finance, structured finance, capital markets, restructuring and insolvency, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital and investment funds, EU and competition law,  technology law, intellectual property, litigation and arbitration, public international law, employment, real estate and tax.
The firm is also one of the largest providers of free legal services in the world. Organisations the London office has worked with include Learning for Life and The Roundhouse Theatre.

In the 2008 edition of the Vault Guide to the Top 50 UK Law Firms, Latham & Watkins' London office was voted the third best law firm to work for.  The guide, which surveyed associates at the top 100 firms in the UK, ranked Latham second for Associate Satisfaction, Remuneration and Solicitor/Partner Relationships.  In relation to Training and Mentoring as well as Pro Bono Latham was ranked third.
We believe our non-hierarchical management style and “one firm” culture make us unique.  The firm has a long history of teamwork and collegiality and associates are encouraged to play a part in the firm’s management through participation on a number of committees.

Every one of our small group of trainees receives bespoke supervision and outstanding support while being encouraged to recognise that they have their own part to play in the growth and success of the firm. Every trainee is given meaningful responsibility during each of their four six-month seats and will have significant legal experience on qualification.

What We Are Looking For
