Ward Hadaway is one of the most progressive commercial law firms in the North of England and is firmly established as one of the North East region’s legal heavyweights.
Main Areas of Work
The firm is divided into five main departments: Litigation; Property; Corporate: Commercial; Private Client, with a number of cross-departmental units. The firm is commercially based, satisfying the needs of the business community in both business and private life. Clients vary from international PLCs to local, private clients.
Who should apply
The usual academic and professional qualifications are sought. Ward Hadaway are keen to employ trainees who enjoy stimulating work and are capable of making a balanced contribution often as part of a team. Sound commercial and business awareness is essential as is the need to demonstrate strong communication skills, enthusiasm and flexibility. Candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.
Training programme
The training contract is structured around four seats each of six months duration. At regular intervals, and each time you are due to change seat, you will have the opportunity to discuss the experience you would like to gain during your training contract. The firm will always try to give high priority to your preferences. You will work directly with a partner or associate which will enable you to learn how to deal with different situations. Your practical experience will also be complemented by an extensive programme of seminars and lectures. All trainees are allocated a “buddy”, usually a second year trainee or newly qualified solicitor, who can provide as much practical advice and guidance as possible during your training. The firm has an active Social Committee and offer a full range of sporting and social events.
When and how to apply
By 31 July 2008 for a training contract to commence in September 2010 using the firm’s application form.
Vacation schemes
Each summer from May to July of one week’s duration. Applications using firm’s application form and covering letter by 28 February 2008.
Sponsorship
CPE and LPC fees paid and a maintenance grant is provided.
